Wrap skirt 100% funded on Kickstarter! 🎉

View on Tumblr

The Kickstarter project for our new wrap skirt, the Tellurian, has reached its funding goal!

This means the skirt will be made!

But first, the campaign will continue until June 22nd. Until then, new folks can still back the project to get the skirt for the Kickstarter price. If you know anyone who might be interested in taking advantage of that, please do share the project:

Starting June 6th, you’ll be able to preorder Skirtcraft’s wrap skirt, The Tellurian, on Kickstarter! It features an adjustable waist, greater overall size range, and sustainable materials.

Preview here, with an option to be notified on launch:

It’s an all-or-nothing crowdfunding campaign: if we reach the goal, production will begin and backers are expected to receive their skirts in August. Backers won’t be charged until the campaign ends, and won’t be charged at all if we don’t reach the goal. The campaign will run for about two weeks.

Backers get a discount: one skirt is $79 (USD) + shipping. Once the Kickstarter campaign ends, if it succeeds, the price will be $89 + shipping.

The Tellurian is our 3rd unisex skirt with large pockets, because skirts and pockets are for everyone. Our skirts are made in the USA, because garment workers deserve fair pay and good working conditions.

The Tellurian is a wrap skirt whose adjustable waist means:

  • You can adjust it to fit perfectly
  • No one should find themselves between two sizes with neither fitting well. If you’re right on the line, either size should work.
  • Since each size spans a greater range of waist measurements, figuring out your size is easier in most cases

Across its five sizes, the Tellurian has an overall waist size range of 26-54″ (65-138 cm) — much greater than our previous designs!

The Tellurian (meaning “of the earth”) is made of 100% organic cotton. Compared to most fabrics, organic cotton’s production:

  • emits less carbon
  • uses less water
  • causes less soil and water contamination

And as a natural fiber, washing it creates no microplastic pollution.

The color options will be black and natural. Backers will select their color and size via a survey at the end of the campaign.

If you haven’t backed a Kickstarter project before, check out Kickstarter Basics.

The campaign will launch on Tuesday, June 6th at:

  • 7am Pacific US
  • 8am Mountain US
  • 9am Central US
  • 10am Eastern US
  • 3pm Western European
  • 4pm Central European
  • 12am Australian Eastern (June 7th)

See you in a week! 🚀

Tellurian wrap skirt update

The pattern grading and sample making process unfortunately have taken longer than planned. Part of it is the factory and I wanted to be certain the size specs were correct, and we did identify and make some important corrections.

I’m expecting to receive and inspect a full sample set (1 of each size) in the next 1-2 weeks. Assuming they’re ok, we’ll go ahead with the photo shoot, which is the last step needed before launching preordering - hopefully in June. 🤞

🚀 The Tellurian: new wrap skirt coming soon

View on Tumblr

Our third unisex skirt product, a wrap design called the Tellurian, is nearly ready for production!

The wrap aspect makes the sizing adjustable, and reduces the difficulty of determining your size when ordering.

The Tellurian will be made in the USA of 100% organic cotton. It will be produced at the same Los Angeles factory that we worked with for our first two skirts.

Thanks very much to the many people who gave feedback on the prototype shared earlier!

One update we’ve made is to secure the tie with metal D-rings rather than a knot, for easier use, a cleaner apperance, and less wear and tear. We’ve found that the rings hold firmly once set.

Preordering will be available in Q1 of 2023, with delivery planned for the spring assuming there’s enough interest and no significant production issues.
